The death of a loved one is always a difficult cross to bear. We seek to minister to parishioners when a family member had died. We are here to help and support as you plan the funeral of your loved one and in the weeks and months ahead.
Please be assured of our prayers at this difficult time. Remember that you are never alone, for Christ walks with you and so do we. You are always welcome to contact one of the priests or parish deacons if you need to talk or need any other form of assistance.
Below is some information that many people wonder about when planning funerals:
By calling the Parish Office at (803) 329 2662 you can schedule a time with a priest or deacon to make the funeral service arrangements. Or you may just want to meet and talk with the priest or deacon of our parish.
A program will be provided for the service at no charge to you. We will ask for any information you would like included in this.
We have altar servers available to serve at any time. But you may request a family member to be the altar server, provided that he or she has experience.
Instrumentalists and vocalists can be provided for a charge. They have certain songs you can choose from or may be able to accommodate a special request.
You will need to arrange for flowers for the funeral. Afterward you may take the floral arrangements home or give them to family members. You may leave the flowers in the church if you wish.
As part of our service to the bereaved, Saint Anne provides a luncheon following the Funeral Mass. Many parishioners are the helping hands behind serving meals to the bereaved and their families at a time when even the simplest meal is so very welcomed.
One of the most difficult tasks facing a mourning family is planning the Funeral Vigil and Funeral Mass. In order to ensure that the wishes of the deceased are followed, we have designed a form to document the wishes of the deceased – prior to death. Please download and complete (to the best of your ability) the form Funeral Planner Guide, and then set an appointment with one of the Priests or Deacons to discuss your wishes. They will help you select your readings and walk you through the entire process.
